Business Valuation Services

Business valuation that shows what it is really worth. Before you sign, split or file.

Independent business valuations, signed by a credentialed valuer, for buying or selling a business, partner buyouts and divorce, and E-2 or EB-5 investors. We tell you what we check, what you get and what it costs.

What we value businesses for

Three situations. Three different questions.

A business valuation is only useful if it answers your question. Here is what we look at, and what you walk away with, in each case.

Buying or selling

Is this asking price fair?

For buyers checking a price before an offer, and owners setting one before they list. Most problems we find are in the seller's numbers, not the price tag.

Buying for an E-2 visa? We line the numbers up with your E-2 business plan.

What we check
  • Owner add-backs that inflate profit
  • Revenue trend over three years, not one good year
  • Customer concentration and owner dependence
  • Lease length, equipment age and hidden debts
What you get
  • A value range set against the asking price
  • The red flags we found, in plain language
  • Points to use in your negotiation
  • Optional full report for lenders or partners
From $1,500Ready in 5–7 business days

Partners & divorce

What is my share really worth?

For partner buyouts, new partners, shareholder disagreements and divorce, where two sides need one number they can rely on.

Court-ready report for divorce or disputes from $7,500, ready in 3–4 weeks.

What we check
  • Fair value of a share, including minority and marketability discounts
  • Owner pay set to market rate
  • Personal expenses run through the business
  • Which goodwill belongs to the business and which to the person
What you get
  • A documented conclusion of value with full reasoning
  • A report the other side's advisor can follow
  • Court-ready version for divorce and disputes
  • Valuer available to explain the report
From $3,500Ready in 2–3 weeks

E-2 & EB-5 investors

Will my investment hold up?

For investors whose case depends on what the business is worth: buying from a relative, buying only part of a business, or contributing equipment instead of cash.

A normal purchase from an unrelated seller usually does not need one. We will tell you if yours does not.

What we check
  • Whether a related-party price matches market value
  • The total value behind a partial purchase
  • Fair market value of non-cash EB-5 capital
  • Consistency with your business plan figures
What you get
  • An independent report your attorney can file
  • Figures that match your business plan
  • Clear wording an officer can follow
  • Coordinated with your E-2 or EB-5 documents

Why our reports hold up

A credentialed valuer. A report you can follow.

A valuation is only as strong as the person who signs it and the reasoning behind it. Courts, buyers, partners and immigration officers look at both. So do we.

Who prepares your report

Every valuation is prepared and signed by an independent valuation professional, named in the report with their qualifications.

CredentialedEach report is signed by a valuer holding a recognized designation: CVA, ABV or ASA.
Matched to your industryWe assign a valuer with experience in your type of business, the same way we match experts to immigration cases.
IndependentNo stake in the sale, the dispute or the outcome. The report follows the numbers.
Checked before deliveryFigures, dates and assumptions are reviewed for consistency before the report reaches you.

What's inside every report

Written so an owner, a buyer or a judge can follow how the number was reached.

Summary of valueThe conclusion, the purpose of the report and the date of value, on one page.
Normalized financialsOwner pay, one-time costs and personal expenses adjusted to show the real business.
Three approaches weighedIncome, market and asset approaches, and why one carries the most weight.
Comparables and assumptionsWhat similar businesses sold for, plus every key assumption stated plainly.
Valuer's certificationWho prepared the report, their credentials and their independence.
Why sales alone mislead

Same $1 million in sales. Very different values.

Two businesses can look identical on the top line. A valuation looks at what a buyer actually gets: profit, risk and how much the business depends on its owner.

Business A

Owner-run café

  • Annual sales$1,000,000
  • Owner's earnings after costs$150,000
  • Owner works in the business60 hours a week
  • Largest customerWalk-in only
  • Lease remaining1 year
Illustrative value~$270,000Depends on the owner and a short lease, so buyers pay a lower multiple.
Business B

Managed service company

  • Annual sales$1,000,000
  • Owner's earnings after costs$300,000
  • Owner works in the business10 hours a week
  • Largest customer4% of sales, 300+ accounts
  • ContractsRecurring, multi-year
Illustrative value~$780,000Higher profit, spread-out customers and recurring revenue earn a higher multiple.

Illustrative example only, simplified to show how value drivers work. It is not a valuation or a quote.

Questions

Business valuation FAQ.

Usually the last three years of financial statements and business tax returns, a current balance sheet, and details of ownership, key contracts, the lease and any debts. We send a short checklist with your quote, and everything you share stays confidential.
Each report is prepared and signed by an independent, credentialed valuation professional, named in the report with their qualifications. For court matters, we only assign valuers whose credentials and experience meet the standard a judge expects.
Yes, with a litigation-grade report prepared to the standard courts expect. We work alongside your family law or business attorney, and the valuer can explain the conclusion if the case requires it.
Usually not for a normal purchase from an unrelated seller, because the purchase price is generally accepted as the value. A valuation matters when you buy from a relative, buy only part of a business, or want to be sure you are not overpaying. For EB-5, non-cash contributions such as equipment must be counted at fair market value. For the rest of your E-2 case, see our E-2 visa services.
Calculators apply an average multiple to the numbers you type in. They cannot spot inflated add-backs, a lease that ends next year, or a business that falls apart without its owner, which are exactly the things that change the price. Use a calculator for curiosity, and a valuation before you sign.

International Evaluations is not a business broker, accounting firm or law firm. Valuations are prepared by independent valuation professionals. Reports are not legal or tax advice.
